Supras have a tendency to run a bit rich (fuel system puts more fuel through the engine than needed)... car goes into boost, lets off, excess gasses build up in the exhaust, and end up igniting from the heat at the first open place (exhaust tip).
My 89 Turbo used to be notorious for it haha...
