With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, must forge new alliances -- and confront powerful enemies. Ten years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow was a recent Oscar winner and comic-book movies weren't even on Hollywood's radar. Even five years ago, who would've expected one of the most anticipated movies of the year would be a second-tier comics property starring two hard-living actors experiencing an industry rebirth. The only aspect of this sequel which gives me (and plenty of others) pause is the presence of multiple villains; hopefully Marvel has learned the error of their Spider-Man 3 ways in this respect.
