Scott Haag's MidiJam can be downloaded (for free!) here:
http://www.gamesbyscott.com/midijam.htm

John Williams is considered by many to be the greatest composer in modern history and is known mostly for his scores on many of George Lucas's and Steven Spielberg's films including Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Close Incounters, Jurassic Park, and many more. (More info below)

Thousands of Midi files can be downloaded from the internet. Simply Google the name of the song you want followed by "midi" and chances are you will find it or you can check some of these sites:

Technical info for you computer nerds:
MIDI files only sound good if you have a really good sound card unless you cheat a little. I converted "The Imperial March" midi file to a WAV file with the "default" simulated instruments at this site:
http://www.hamienet.com/midi2mp3
It sounds far better, however MidiJam wont be able to play the WAV file because it's no longer a midi file. For this video I recorded MidiJam with the original Imperial March midi sound and then using a video editor, I replaced the original sound with the converted sound WAV file.

If you're wondering specifically how I captured this:

Watch this video especially for the DivX information and settings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kiug3H3c4gk

then:

CamStudio settings:
Region: Fixed Region, check Fixed Top-Left Corner, Left 5, Top 40, Width 640, Height 480
Options/Video Options: Compressor: DivX, Quality 60, Set Key Frames Every 30, Capture Frames Every 50, Playback Rate 20, Max Framerate.
I set to "Do not record audio" because I added better audio later in editing but you might want to keep things simple and record it while capturing the video.

MidiJam Settings (If you can't find it, a configuration file called "HWFConfig" is in the MidiJam folder. Click on that.)
Resolution: 640x480, Bit Depth 32, Refresh rate 60, Use "Sound" but not "Full Screen".

_______________________________________________ John Williams has won a total of five Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. He has been nominated for 21 Golden Globes and 59 Grammys. With 45 Oscar nominations, Williams currently holds the record for the most Oscar nominations for a living person. He is also the second most nominated person in the history of the Academy Awards, tied with late fellow film composer Alfred Newman, to Walt Disney's 59. Forty of Williams' Oscar nominations are for Best Original Music Score and 5 are for Best Original Song. All five winners are in the former category. Williams has also received two Emmy Awards and four nominations, seven BAFTAs, twenty Grammy Awards, and has been inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. In 2004 he received a Kennedy Center Honor. He also won a Classical Brit award in 2005 for his soundtrack work of the previous year. Williams' richly thematic and highly popular 1977 score to the first Star Wars film was selected in 2005 by the American Film Institute as the greatest American movie score of all time. His scores for Jaws and E.T. also appeared on the list, at #6 and #14, respectively.

  • @SixFt12 can you do a the zack files theme remix from the show

  • Do you know who sequenced this MIDI file? If you can't find the answer, I might be able to do some research. (I use the NEMIDi Online Midi editor to decode MIDI files.)

  • i love starwars songs including this 1

  • did you use the signature edition score for this file - it sounds like you used it - try visit my profile and see if you like the midi samples of mine

  • If it used only the instruments shown then it used (in order):

Trap set, tubular bells (I think that's what those are supposed to be), french horn, trumpet, trombone, flute, harp, tuba, xylophone, synthesizer,

  • That is pretty cool.

  • Whoa, greatly orchestrated, you really put care into details.

it is also awesome that you decided to display this on midijam.

That way besides sounding amazing It looks epic because it has a lot of instruments.
