This tool can be useful in order to summon Zeffa, the bird who takes you to nine different areas on the map. @ 3:15, dig one space south from where you are at and the flute is uncovered at 3:18. It's a shame that he turns into a tree. -.- @ 4:31, I posted a video response on how to cut your magic meter usage in half, but now you will really know what happens! Does that bat have a two-sided personality. Which one are you, protagonist or antagonist?! If you play the flute near the weather vane, you can summon Zeffa!
