Short film featuring some examples of art deco architecture in London. Some of the buildings in this film are not listed, and many art deco buildings are still at risk of demolition.

In memory of the Firestone Building.

  • For me, the crown jewel of all buildings would have to be the Chrysler building in N.Y.C.

  • I have always loved art deco, didnt buy anything or have the guts to theme a room , but then decided too, a few years ago. just my luck the world and his wife wanted too as well, prices have really gone through the roof lately, love our front room though, its timeless

the sad thing about this film is you say some of these buildings , arent even listed.!!

  • If you love these buildings, take a look at the Save Saltdean Lido Campaign website. The Lido is a perfect example of Art Deco - it looks beautiful and there is a petition to save it. They have until 6 October 2011 to get as many signatures as possible. The numbers have exceeded the 2000 they need, but not by much.

  • I notice how many of your Deco buildings in London still have their original windows. In America so many of ours have been replaced (ugh).

  • Way we're going they will all end up becoming mosques.

  • Please let this video never die, as I return to it often. People's Palace, thank you for this.

  • Thank you Art Deco is fast disappearing here also many, cities have lost their downtons to malls..........A few theaters have been saved.

  • Fantastic. Thank you for uploading.

  • Art deco is great, SEVERE!

Now a days its hard to imagine a world ruled by severe modern, art deco.

  • Nice work ThePeoplesPalace!

Definitely a great architectural style that deserves to be preserved.

Interesting fact I got from a book review on Amazon:

...or bulldozed for parking lots and malls, repeated testaments to the Gordon Curve, predicting that a building is valued most when it is new, that it is least valued and most likely to be razed at approximately 70 years of age, and that if it makes it past that nadir it will begin to rise again in value as a relic and monument.
