Palin must have purposely did this to screw with Letterman; making a public assumption that Letterman was talking about the 14 year old in both cases. The broad wanted to bring people against Letterman. But, using the words slutty etc etc and making jokes towards any daughter is wrong and it's safe to say Letterman went too far even in 2009. BUT all the brew-ha-ha Palin brought about probably helped Letterman's ratings! This, and also the extortion case.

By the way, it wouldn't make any sense if the joke had been made about Willow, the 14yo daughter. We know NOTHING about her sex life, so that joke would not make sense if it was meant about her.

But if it was meant about Bristol (the 18yo daughter), then it makes PERFECT sense. She was the one who in spite of coming from a Christian home (and I assume would claim to be a Christian herself), went out and had premarital sex. She's a hypocrite, and hypocrites are the targets of jokes.

Does the joke mean he really is thinking bad thoughts about the girl? No. He might be, but nobody can read minds, and the joke is in itself not an indication of any actual dirty thoughts, just that he's doing his job and making jokes. If Sarah Palin can't take the bad jokes aimed at her and her family, then she should GET OUT of public office.

While I do find dirty jokes of all sorts to be inappropriate, I don't think Sarah Palin should really complain. I mean comedians make jokes (sometimes bad ones), and often make them about public figures, and sometimes the family members of said public figure
