@GYTRDEZ it's true!! I was a very close friend of George Malcolm, and I paid many visits at his Wimbledon home, until 1997(when he deceased), he was a genius!! completely forgotten today, especially in France...it's a shame!!

Wonderful. Such a period piece - the kind of harpsichord sound immortalised in The Saint or Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), but totally alien to the kind of sound Bach or Vivaldi would have known. A great performance nonetheless - edge-of-the-seat stuff! Thank you.

I think this is my favourite recording: Fresh and rythmic, but not too speedy. Many players, especially those of today, are trying to break the speed record, - and away goes the dramatic character of a french ouverture.

there are a variety of touches available on harpsichord and of course rythmic delays and etc.soone can notice differences on an instrument incapable of dynamic difference.

I will look for it. Thanks!

George Malcolm's favourite instrument, which he plays in this recording, was one of fourteen harpsichords built by Thomas Goff from 1937. Goff hated selling any of his instruments and most of them, this one included, were hired out by Goff. So while it is correct to say Malclom did not own the instrument, I doubt if Goff hired it out to anyone but Malcolm. Unfortunately a friend who would have known for certain died earlier this year. My friend owned one of the few instruments Goff did sell.
