  • In your tags: Dewey defeats Truman. That was a famous one! Washington Post?

  • Chicago Daily Tribune. (I wouldn't have known , except I just now happened to come across the picture on Paul Krugman's blog (krugman DOT blogs DOT nytimes DOT com, entry for January 9).

  • I suspect that a magazine has a long post-production and distribution time.

And further I think someone at some point in the chain said "let it go".

  • The note basically says, "It's not our fault." Which may be true, but then one has to wonder about Parade magazine. Did they make a decision not to change it? Or is their publication and distribution process so inflexible that 10 days is not long enough to make a change when a major world event completely changes the meaning of one of their stories?

  • Yes, I see what you mean. Everyone feels the loss when a person imbued with people's hopes is killed.

  • You are most kind, sir.

  • OK, now I see the Editor's Note on Sunday's front page, in the lower left-hand corner.

    Legible but not prominent.
