What drove a company of American soldiers -- ordinary young men from around the country -- to commit the worst atrocity in American military history? Were they just following orders as some later declared? Or, did they break under the pressure of a vicious war in which the line between enemy soldier and civilian had been intentionally blurred? Watch MY LAI, Monday April 26 on PBS.http://www.pbs.org/americanexperience

  • your website sucks, I can't play the video. I need to watch it for my class! :( stupid Adobe flash

  • I'm a Vietnam veteran. I was in Vietnam when all of this came to light. William Calley should have been executed, but so should many, many others. Many careers should have been ended as well. My entire military service was tainted by the actions of these animals. I've never trusted my government, and especially the military, since my tour in Vietnam.

  • I wonder if Bosnian Serb wartime commander Ratko Mladic will serve a mere 4 months in a military prison like LT Calley. It's strange how the United States views atrocities done by others as opposed to those done by their own servicemen.

  • Boy, i have never been angry after watching a documentary.

  • @JulieRebu07 :You are so right!!

I am Retired Army, myself and Calley is a Very Close Relative of mine-he was simply following "Orders" which were to "Sanitise the Area" due to the fact that the Village in question was Providing Safe-Harbor to the Enemy!

Sure, some of his men may have gotten a tad Overzealous, but imagine how they fely, having the Enemy do Unimaginable ATROCITIES TO THEIR FRIENDS! Calley is not only a Close Relative of mine, but "My Hero!"

  • That was so watered down as not to upset the public,no mention of raping and cutting unborn children from their mothers wombs, watch the BBC doc filmed in 1988,makes it even more sickening

  • powerful documentary.... I just watched it on PBS.

  • thanks for sharing! i will watch this documentary on PBS!

  • come one this is not the worse they still are killing innocent ppl till this day
