@homeboylx he was at 5.1 Mbps (not MBs), as you said the radio can do up to 7.2 max so he was under that. To be honest I have a 4G phone 14.4Mbs and in daily use i only avg 2-3Mbps at best. It doesn't matter whether you see the 3G or 4G icon, the underlying tech is still HSPA/HSPA+ which are pretty identical as far as frquency and signaling. This is why T-mobile and AT&T 4G phones dont use more battery power than their 3G versions whereas Verizon and Sprint 4G phones do.

@nickitynack58 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
Dude, T-Mobile's EDGE is faster then AT&T's 4G. They didn't even make any tower upgrades when they advertized 4G, I honestly think they did tower downgrades, because people with a AT&T 4G phone get slower speeds then someone with a 3G phone.
Learn your facts, you'll see amazing speeds when AT&T gobbles up T-Mobile, and you get faster then dial-up speeds.

@mrjlwilliams Thats weird I thought the radio could only handle 7.2mbps

iam actually pulling anywhere from 5 to 10 mbps at the moment on 4 bars. . on 5 bars i get well about 10mbps. I am on a Cyanogen 6.1 rc3 T-mobile G2. Heres the video /watch?v=pbdNgUq5ePI
No it's true according to this article online on androidandme... T-Mobile currently offers 15 3G devices that can benefit from the advanced speeds, which includes their entire Android lineup. This means your aging G1 could be pulling down faster download speeds than the new EVO 4G if you are lucky to live in one of the 100 markets expected to receive HSPA+. The carrier also plans to sell their first HSPA+ handset later this year.

@jozefd14 That is something I knew already...my point was, T-Mobile is by far the best right now..and has more devices that can handle it. ATT says they have the fast network, and more 4G...but they don't have any devices. I'm currently using an HD7 and a MyTouch 4G...they produce the same speeds. I will post a video of that soon....

@jozefd14 You misunderstand about older devices benefiting from the + upgrade on the network. The towers bandwidth on the network got upgraded, as well as the + tx/rx capability. Tmo network has underutilized the potential of the 3G tech all along by having a slower tower network connection.
If you have a 802.11G network at your house, upgrading to N does nothing for you unless you get 15Mb cable over your old 3Mb DSL.

@P90wn3r well said...

Sure, Upgrading to a new + system (think of it as an N router) is faster, but the HSPA (G router) wasn't maxed out because the connection was so slow in the first place. The non + equipment has a max speed of 14Mb under optimal conditions.......I haven't seen it hit 25% of that............. That's Tmobile for you

@P90wn3r I get 8mb on MyTouch 4G...but on my HD7, I've gotten about 12mb. Go figure...
