Well, theres not much you can do. If you want it to be brighter, i'd suggest buying an aftermarket shift light. Alot of my buddies drag race and they all use MSD shift lights which are very expensive, but you get what you pay for. I guess it all boils down to what style of a rider you are. If you drag race then it'll help. However i'm a trackday/club racer/canyon rider so i shift by feel, same as everyone else.
I own the 08 zx-10r. Check out my slideshows on my page : )
Of course I don't stare at the tach waiting for the light to go off, but when you're using all of the RPM range and shifting nearly at redline, the last few hundred RPM's don't change in sound much and it's easy to ping the limiter.
If there is going to be a shift light, make it a little brighter is all.
open your eyes! : ) I shift by feel and sound...not by a little light telling me i need to shift. Also i unplug my dash fuzz so it dosn't distract me.
Besides the other nerds I can also answer your question...sooo besides the extra power the zx 10r weights much more and I also think...it has 190 rear wheels...and not the 180 like the zx6r... so u ´ll get much more power, power u ´ll never can handle with^^
except u r gettin paid for, but it´s more difficult to ride cacuse u have to handle with much more weight.
"professional driver on a closed course" OO REALLY? i wouldn't have known..

Love this bike, I have an all black one... but is it just me or does the shift light need to be bigger and brighter?!
My last 2007 R1 you couldn't miss the thing - you would shift just to get that light out of your face lol

0742ext- yes it is for aerodynamics
helps the air flow over the body over the rider easily and more smoothily
its miles away from your head if it reaches that point youd be fucked already

that pack on the back is to prevent the riders head from snapping back too far in a crash. I use to race . Nothing to do with aerodynamics .

To BlackJackm82 -that pack on the back of the riders is a aerodynamic hump
