The tall singer singing the counterpoint is crucial. And he's not hitting the notes correctly especially at the end. This is what spoils it a bit. But, alas, what the heck: It's nevertheless a good rendition ! And the song is really touching !!!

Those who are bashing, just please try to look at this as a totally different piece. They're not trying to make it sound like an Operatic piece; it's a very groovy, Vocal Jazz piece. If this was opera, then this song would be terrible. But this is the epitome of vocal jazz and they do what they do VERY well.

Very cool arrangement of Purcell. Don't understand the negative comments. Must be early opera snobs. For those who say that the lead is emotionless, well go analyze the score of the original and take into account period performance practice and the story and scene--this is not a Romantic, dramatic piece. And besides, this is the beauty of the jazz idiom. This is like West Coast Jazz. Super performance. Also is interesting how the negative comments get personal with insults.

I like this a lot. And I have a lot of classical music training. These guys are hugely talented and although the sound quality on this video is a little ropey it doesn't detract from the skill of he performers. Each to his own, is what I say. If you have nothing nice to say just because this is not to your taste, then please refrain from saying it at all- the number of 'likes' tells a truer story.

This is only a shadow of their performance on the album "'Place Vendome'' they made with Modern Jazz Quartet. Then it was a perfect mix of voices and instruments.

I love the performance! Creative modern briliance! I'm learning this song in my vocal class this year. It is more on the Classical end, so this spin is a refreshing taste of artistry! Thanks for performing! Keep up the good work, and remember to tighten your glutes to hit your high notes!

This is truly tragic! While I can appreciate this group's talent for what it is that they do, the lack of knowledge, understanding and musical intuition displayed by this arrangement is enough to make me cry. And not in a good way. Please do some research and be ashamed.

Truely hideous on about 15 levels. WTF with the "percussion?" Stick to your crap music and stay away from the classics.
