Thanks for posting. Priceless. This would be SS Laurentic 2. As inspjacjfrost said, the first Laurentic was sunk with $5,000,00 worth of gold on board. This one was built 1927 and did her Maiden Voyage to New York in 1928. My Father, aged 4 and his large family were repatriated to England on this vessel in July 1929 after a 4 year stay in Canada. The Laurentic was sunk in Nov 1940 by German U Boat. Thanks again for this priceless film.

Wow, life on a small ship of the day. The hats the girls wore, so nostalgic. This was right before the Great Depression too... Those lifeboats are really neat. They don't make 'em like the used to.

I'd say that's Sophie Tucker singing her signature tune, "Some of these Days". But that's not the Laurentic judging by the date and the locale.

never thought i would see her afloat she sank in 1917 with a shed load of gold on board most of which was recovered by the royal navy we went back in 1984 to look for the missing bars... never found any but picked up some of the ceramic deck tiles.
