The Hitting Stops Here! was interviewed by Ch. 52, Olelo TV, HI March 3, 2010

Paula Flowe, Exec. Director of The Hitting Stops Here! was interviewed by Professor Genie Joseph of Chaminade University in Hawaii on the topic of
American school corporal punishment, that is,
the beating of children on their buttocks with
wooden boards. This practice, is sanctioned in
20 US states and its territories. Parents have
no legal recourse when their child has been
badly injured and notes sent by parents denying
the right of the school to beat their child are
ignored in numerous cases.

Primary targets: Black Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and children with special needs and openly "gay" students.

We ask that our supporters visit our Mississippi TakeOff webpage and support our work in any way. Please see our "token of appreciation" product page for DonAtioNS at:

  • Paula, You are still an amazing woman. I am so happy you are still out there for our kids. The credentialing committee has decided to suspend the special ed teacher that physically abused Mia for 14 days. As soon as we receive a copy of the cell phone video from a 14 yr old boy that video'd an aid screaming at Mia in January, I will forward it to you. The family is reluctant to share it as they are afraid their son will be the one punished for taking the video

  • @KimberlyPruett

    Hi Kim,

14 days is so sad because your daughter's life has been changed forever from what her teacher did in physically abusing her. I know she was a gentle child before and now she is acting out what happened to her. I do pray that the experience will fade and that she will restored to the gentleness that everyone who knows her remembers.

    Please give her my love.

    Paula

  • I attended public schools in Las Vegas in the 70's and it was commonly used in the classrooms. I'd say "most" of my teachers used it, but not all. I think the ones that used it were easily frustrated, and used it as an excuse to discipline. In "my personal opinion" those particular teachers weren't very good teachers anyway, and probably shouldn't have been teachers to begin with.

  • Hi Paula,

Great Video! Time to stop the practice of spanking but we need to offer parents a support system to help correct children early and in the neighborhood. Involved neighbors speak up when children agressive. Neighbors are great mentors too. Check out my website, videos (new ones coming up) and I have a speakers bureau.
