@maltmeal I don't agree with your comment. Playing a natural A/E/D adds great variety to the playing (i'm refering to the improvisation, not the theme nor the ending), mostly because such notes constitute the different extensions of the root (3rd and 7th). If you listen to prominent jazz figures (such as Keith Jarrett), you will realise that they do not stay in 1 key but rather take advantage of the different tonalities to enhance their musical improvisation.

@maltmeal It's written that way.... It's minor blues with that major chord thrown in there from time to time to give it that funky groove.

@JazzNaySean Actually it is by Bobby Timmons (google moanin' timmons). Timmons was Blakey's pianist at the time and the song was his composition.

Well played but this is not expressive. More, we can't feel the energy of this wonderful music like a good jazz player have to send to the listeners.
