The Cambridge Military Hospital opened its doors to patients in 1879, named after His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Army at the time, rather than its location. Sat high on a hill to provide a good flow of clean air, the hospital is notable for its very long (aka mile long) straight main corridor which runs end-to-end with different self-contained regimental wards off at right angles.

The site also includes the Louise Margaret Maternity Hospital, which opened in 1898 and took on its maternity role in 1958.

The Cambridge Military Hospital was closed in 1996 with concerns about asbestos and the costs of maintaining the ageing building being driving factors.

This video was originally soundtracked with a mix of original footage and a corking Black Sabbath song, but I was requested to swap that out for some royalty free music instead by YouTube.
