@bestamerica Iraq invaded iran for oil fields because iraq only had a few. another reason was for more access to the persian gulf which iran had a larger area of shoreline to. Saddam was ionexperienced as a military leader and royally fucked up by acheiving nothing. No real victory for anyone but thats basically the story from1980-88. also this war caused desert shield/storm.
