Tom Swift was the hero of five series of books and 105 volumes. In each case Tom was a young inventor who built marvelous machines to let him take bold adventures. The books inspired many people to pursue careers in science and technology.

Since 2010 is the 100th anniversary of the publication of the first five volumes in the first series, a convention will be held in San Diego to celebrate, July 16-18, 2010, at the Sheraton Mission Valley.

For details on the convention and other special events, see the convention web site http://www.TomSwiftEnterprises.com and for licensed convention merchandise see our Cafe Press store http://www.CafePress.com/TS100

Please join us to help celebrate this important milestone in juvenile literature.

  • I read the second series as a kid, at least the first twenty-one novels. Loved the series, but never picked up the later series. Don't know that I can make it to the convention, but maybe I can catch the exhibit while I'm in SD for the Comic-con. Nice overview! Thanks.

  • @sachaput Since many people attend Comic-Con from at least Wednesday through Sunday, we timed our event to be the weekend before in case people wanted to arrive early for TS100. The convention hotel rate (Sheraton Mission Valley) is pretty good if you mention "Tom Swift Convention" for the days of TS100 and a little before and after. If you can make it, please do so. Help spread the word about this event (and video).

  • I wish I could have been there! I finally completed my collection of early printings of the first Tom Swift series, and am now reading through them. City of Gold- my absolute favorite, and the book that got me into the series, and antique book collecting in general.
