This is one of my favorite songs by Francis Cabrel! Hope you enjoy it, too! Please find my English translation below (and please suggest any changes if you disagree with the translation!)

________________________________
October (English Translation)

The wind will rustle in the branches,
the mist will come in its white dress.
There will be leaves everywhere,
lying on pebbles,
October will take its revenge.
The sun will be just gone.
Our bodies will hide beneath bits of wool.
Lost under your scarves,
you will spend the evening,
October will be asleep at the fountains.
Certainly there will be,
on tables made of tin,
some empty vases lying around
and some clouds clinging to antennas.
I will offer you flowers
and colored cloths,
so that October won't seize us.
We will run to the top of the hills
and look at everything that October illuminates.
My hand in your hair,
scarves for both of us,
before the world that gives in.
Certainly resting on the benches,
there will be some men who will remember
and some clouds clinging to antennas.
I will offer you flowers
and colored cloths,
so that October won't seize us.
And without doubt we will make appear
some drawings in the condensations of the windows.
You will play outside,
like the children of the North.
October is going to stay, maybe.
You will play outside,
like the children of the North.
October is going to stay, maybe.

  • Sounds very exotic mate!

  • @idrnoel Thanks! The lyrics are quite poetic, too. I put an English translation in the description.

  • Dirk - that was one of your best!

  • @StubyStubyDoo Thank you, Stew!

  • That's a sweet cover Dirk. I like the picking and hammer ons. It's been a while since I listened to Cabrel. I think it is time to visit the CD section of the library again.

    How did the busking go?

  • @josephhoh Hi Joseph! My favorite Cabrel album is "Samedi soir sur la terre" (1994). I guess the pedestrians didn't really like the banjo that much. Busking with the uke was more successful - the problem is however that amps aren't allowed!
