Cypress College Political Science Professor Peter Mathews observes, June 26, the election results from his campaign headquarters.
Former United States Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald unexpectedly passed away, Apr. 22, which left her Californian 37 congressional seat up for grabs. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger scheduled a special primary election for June 26 and a runoff-between each parties top-vote-getting candidate-for Aug. 21 to replace Millender-McDonald.
A host of Democratic candidates-along with one Green, one Libertarian and several Republicans-campaigned for the seat, including perennial candidate Mathews. In last year's 37 district Democratic primary Mathews won 9,094 votes versus incumbent Millender-McDonald's approximately 28,000 votes.
Leave Laura Richardson alone, just hang up your gloves you will never win anything.
