  • @tarikghi I just watched some videos of the drummers you mentioned. All of them, especially Dave Weckl, are really good. Just watch a few more Neil Peart drum solos and you will be convinved he is the worlds greatest drummer, but hey, thats my opinion. cheers

  • @astrophysics123 Thanks for the response. Everything you mentioned, polyrythms, changing meters, etc.. that's all good but any good drummer can do those things well. You say he is the greatest!!! That's a big deal. Do you know of Steve smith, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Caleuita, etc...? Watch Neil Peart and Dave Weckl on Youtube and see who's licks and grooves you can do without practicing the part first. I would like to know who's parts you found easier to reproduce. Then write me back.

  • @tarikghi Listen man, I can explain why Neil Peart is the world's greatest drummer. He can play polyrhythms effortlessly. He can switch time signatures and change the mood without you even noticing. Neil Peart always changes his patterns & rhythms while drumming to add flavor to the song. He knows more about drumming & has studied more about drumming than anybody else. Neil Peart also writes the best lyrics that could be written by a human. There is no fucking drummer better than Neil Peart.

  • @yago111yeeah Thank you so much for that suggestion. Never heard Ben Riley's playing before. That man could swing! It was fun listening. Thank you again.

  • @tarikghi yeah, for facility in drumming , check out Ben Riley drumming with Thelonious Monk in Blue Monk,

  • @tarikghi fair enough , and I appreciate your kind answer, different to other Rush fans who are actually quite biased and stubborn. Yes, I can see Neil Peart has some facility to play fast drills ,

  • The next time someone wants to praise Neil Peart for his playing please be specific. Prove it to me. Give me examples and compare them to similar examples of other drummers. I am trying to figure out why so many think Neil is the best and why I don't.

  • @chazenlindo God is God, Neil Peart is a guy.

  • @yago111yeeah No, I think you are misunderstanding me. This has nothing to do with good music or bad music for that matter. It has to do with facility on the drum set and nothing else. Drumming, whether you are playing in a band to music or sitting in your practice room without music. Drumming and drumming only. AS far as replicating things go, I am only using that as a standard to measure the difficulty of a drum part or a drummer's habits against. That is all.

  • Hi there...

Sorry, I guess i've been away for the last 40 years or something, but I 'm new to this band, so I have to ask again. Why was he so upset? Was he having a headache or something?
