Great fun vintage TV advert from Pepsi titled Nightlife, this has a very Swinging 60s feel to it even though it was from the early 70s, and also features some great nightime Los Angeles footage.

  • @jmmelody1 Was it Joe Brooks who wrote the tune , you know that guy that killed himself the other day .

As much as we may think it, time really isn't so neatly divided into ten year blocks where every ten years it's immediately out with the old and in with the new. It's a slow, continuous progression.

  • Amazing how the brain works. I haven't heard or thought of this jingle in probably 40 years (I'm 49)... yet after the first few words I knew exactly what was coming next: "Coming at you... going strong...." It's been locked up and forgotten in my mind all these years, then immediately available when summoned. Amazing.

  • I noticed on 0:39 there was the image of a bottle cap that said "Drink Pepsi-Cola"

The logo was mostly used in the 60's but introduced in 1950.

  • Song written by.... wait for it....

    Barry Manilow

  • sounds like the beatles...

  • Heh,oh yeah funky and vintage. Real cool.

  • I think the beginning of each decade seems to reflect the previous one. I was coming of age in 1980, but 1980 still had a 70s feel, but of course still had a 80s beginning to it . I love this commercial. it does take me back to when I was 6 years old.

  • Also, the Pepsi bottle itself...because in the 70s...the bottle changed to the Red, White, and Blue label.

  • Althought this commercial may have run in the 70's, there are two clues in the footage that it was produced in 1969, which is probably why you noted in the info that it had a "Swinging 60's feel". If you pay close attention, you will see two feature film titles that appear in the commercial footage, that were both release in June 1969, within a week of each other. The first one is True Grit and the second one is The Wild Bunch. Both great westerns, both from 69. Thanks for posting it!
