I put this together so that people will know what is the meaning of a Flag Draped Coffin and also what each fold of the United States Flag means to a widow or widower when given the United States flag at their loved ones funeral.

I was a Signalman, and I've never heard of these things as I, along with many were responsible for honors and ceremonies; I have utmost respect of the flag, but it sounds like some christian rhetoric bullshit, and NO we are not founded upon christian religion [see:U.S Constitution: amendment One]

  • @MasterFalin My name is Dustin Thompson and I'm a SSgt in the USAF. I was in the honor guard for 3 years. Im not sayig that people havent assigned their own meaning to the flag Im just tired of people saying that there is a specific meaning, when there in fact, is not. The flag is folded in a triangle to distinguish it from other ordinary objects...and it just so happens that it usually takes thirteen folds to do so.....It was not my intention to offend but thanks for insulting me anyway.

  • this seems to be a topic in which there will never be agreement.. sad. we are all on the same team here.. although, what about the words of the Pledge of Allegence? also- it seems verrry few ppl have any problem at all earning/spending money stamped w the words "In God We Trust".. interesting.

  • No matter your personal opinion on religion, this country WAS formed on the basis of Christianity. The fore-fathers were Christian. "Separation of Church and State" came later. The Bill of Rights says that you can choose your religion, and won't be persecuted for it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't founded on Christian values. G.Washington said "So help me, God." when he was inaugurated, even though it wasn't in the script. All others have followed. There are more indications as well.
