On Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., the House Small Business Committee held a full committee hearing entitled, "Beyond the Size Standards: Sustainability of Small Business Graduates." The hearing took place in room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The hearing examined proposals for a medium-sized business program. Specifically, the hearing looked at H.R. 1812, the Small Business Growth Act, and other legislative proposals. The hearing sought to analyze the desirability of a medium-sized business program, the effect of such program on current small firms, and the fundamental issues any such program must address if the program is to succeed.
Mid-size businesses? They were small, now they aren't, so they make donations to their congressmen to get more contracts set aside for them, and receive the same work they used to get when they were "small." They will only take away more and more contracts from small businesses. Saying they compete against the largest is just a way to get more thrown their way, without having to compete. There comes a time when enough is enough. The small business program works. Congratulations, they grew.
