Great video. Love your guilt trip about the CB radio. W3ATB

@Rareed63 Yes....when did I ever say CB radio existed before ham?
-
@meangreen69Nova Well lets get some History straight Ham Radio was before CB not the other way around.
-
I don't see what the shame is in a licensed ham operator having a CB and operating on it. I just recently passed my test for technician amateur license. I still plan to run a CB. It still has it's place on the highways and such. But I will also run my ham radio as well.

Why do you have to make excuses about having a CB radio. I bet most of you Ham guys started on the CB radio. Although not as professional and high tech like a Ham radio. But It is still a communication radio and can be used in emergencies. Its the project thats important. Good job.

Just remember all the Hams that talk Crap about talking on the CB used to be on the CB themselfs and now they are to good to get on the CB..
-
Thank God, somebody who actually appreceates a clean professional installation

You spent a minute and a half justifying why you have a CB to the HAM community.. Do you even hear yourself? That is pretty pathetic that you have to worry about "them" turning their backs on you because of that lowly attitude some give 11 meter operators...
but I digress

great CB antenna, I have one on my 1998 F150 and get around 7 miles transmit distance (yeah, nothing compared to a HAM but I'm still happy talking to my buddies around my home, I recently built a mobile mast antenna for the CB and am picking up guys running standard 4watt out from over 50 miles away. transmitting distance is still about 7 miles though. everything in your truck looks real good too! I can attest to having distractions, CB, PA, lights here and there, subwoofer...

Usually vehicles have pre-drilled holes in the firewall (the metal separating the engine compartment from the cab) look in your engine compartment and near your pedals. Sometimes they are covered with rubber plugs. If you don't have one you can drill a hole, just check the area beforehand.

You know you have to recalibrate the meter when you check swr??? And the reason its high on 1 is that the radials need to be longer, or the antenna is too short.

I know my way around a SWR meter. I didn't re-calibrate it on camera because the swr was nearly the same after re-calibration. If this was for real and not just a internet video I would have made certain that my reading was as accurate as possible. I didn't want this antenna to be perfect, I am on HAM radio most of the time and rarely use CB.
