  • wait wait, i mean.. i'm thinking about drum beat in 4/4 signature, but what if the beat is only in quarter notes, so that high-hat is played only 4 times in a bar. what do we call this kind of beat.

  • hi jinukago,

it's still 4/4, just varied. diff is the hats going on crotchets (quarter notes) instead of quavers (8th notes) and the coordination: the kick (1, 2n, 3) won't fall nicely with the hats, the 2n will stick out.

check out the 16th note video. it's basically the same beat with hats on 16th instead of 8th. still 4/4.

  • not at all, 4/4 just means there are 4 out of 4 beats being played in every bar, it has absolutely nothing to with the hats, you could play 32nd notes if you wanted to, it would still be in the 4/4 time signature.

  • you're right, which is exactly what i explained.

4/4 is 4 crotchets in a bar, or 8 quavers, or 15 semi quavers.

or like you said, 32 demi semi quavers.

  • yes this is quite famouse but i dont think the famous

please watch my drums 101 video it teaches you all the good gear you can use

  • oops i accidentally subscribed to you.

what gear? i don't see any gear, less good gear!

  • rap is hip hop, you can commonly hear it on hip hop songs, rap is the kind of singing a song without a tone, its kinda simply saying the words fast.

  • i want sum1 tuh tell me the difference between rap and hip hop...

  • thanks! I really like your posture and the strong basics you have.

can you tell me what other beats are there other than 4/4 beat? do we have something like 8/4 beat?
