A commercial for then-contemporary music station KFI, in Los Angeles. As what happened with most AM music stations in the 1980s, KFI eventually went all talk, and remains in that format today.

  • Slight correction on your discription. KFI is in Los Angeles, CA. Pretty much everything else is true. It's currently a Clear Channel talk radio filled with Rush wanna-be.

  • The funny thing is, I *knew* KFI was in LA, since I had already put that in the video title, but there was an inconsistency with the description I hadn't yet noticed! Thanks.

  • Their tag was "KFI: More Stimulating Talk Radio" lol. Yeah, stimulating like jab in the eye. Back in the day it was KLOS and KPFK for me. Pirate Radio was cool for a moment. Can't remember the call letters.

  • ... I never listened to KFI640 AM in all the years I grew up in SoCal. I always tuned to KHJ or KEZY. KTNQ was for cholos... not for me. I hate gangsta thugs & their 'ilk*. Now I listen to KFI 640 AM EVERY DAY for John & Ken's insights... Tim Conway Jr. & Aron Bender for laughs & George Noory for "WTF?". Conservative Talk rules. BTW I'm NOT WHITE OR REPUBLICAN... so get over *it*. So 'Nuff Sed.

  • I'ts sad that they threw out the good music on this station which was replaced by mean evil conservative talk show as we know it today.

  • Its an inevitable revolution. It's sad, but it had to happen, some say for the best, while others say for the worst.

  • KFI was a great AM station when you only had an AM radio in your car

  • That's Eric Chase doing the voice over. he was the afternoon jock for a few years in the mid to late 70's. He's been Paul Cristy in Houston since leaving KFI.

  • I *hate* talk radio. Shame this station became one.

  • I was in L.A. from September 27 to October 5 of that year for my 21st birthday.

  • man can I talk with you soon? (806) 433-2181, and I don't care MusicRadio 64 KFI was the best Top 40 station ever!!

  • Very cool... i still have quite a few cassette tapes I recorded during that time.... only problem is I was so far away that the signal would fade in and out, particularly depending on the weather, living on the coast.
