On September 01, 1961 Maestro Nitoy Gonzales composed "Usahay" in Cebuano. It also has a Tagalog version titled "Napangarap Kita."
Singer Leni Alano, a member of the famed Bayanihan Dance Troupe, originally recorded "Usahay" during the early 1960's. However, in 1979 a new and shortened version of the song was written by Jessie Saclo for the OPM singer Susan Fuentes.
When Leni Alano informed Nitoy of the new version of the song he opted not to take any legal action, stressing that Saclo's act wouldn't make him rich, anyway. Nevertheless, Saclo's version as sung by Susan Fuentes became the popular version of "Usahay".

It is the song that matters,. Usahay

It's not the song that really matters. It's what you hear that gives the difference. My kind of songs give that kind of feeling you cannot describe in words, but would be felt by your entire being.

Thank you so much for uploading this video. Usahay is one of my favorite Filipino ballads. I don't understand a word of it, but I think you don't have to understand Cebuano to appreciate how lovely and poignant this song is.
