Concert for the Cure - Jordan Hall - Boston 12/5/10
Mozart - Piano Concerto in G, K. 453, III Allegretto
Concert for the Cure - Boston - 12/5/10
Conductor: Sir Simon Rattle
Pianist: Marc-André Hamelin

Susan G Komen and Julie Scolnik, artistic director, present Concert for the Cure to help continue to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

World-renowned music director of the Berlin Philharmonic, Sir Simon Rattle, along with 75 esteemed musicians drawn from leading orchestras and chamber ensembles have come together tonight in a spirit of love and generosity to make music together.

Long known for his bold exploration of unfamiliar pianistic terrain, Marc-André Hamelin is now recognized worldwide for the originality and technical brilliance of his performances of the classic repertoire.

In 2005, Boston flutist Julie Scolnik underwent treatments for breast cancer. Throughout her treatments, music played an essential role in keeping her spirits high, and as artistic director of a chamber music series, she continued to organize and play concerts in wigs after she had lost her hair.

In 2008, Scolnik reached out to her musical colleagues to present a full symphony concert to raise funds so
that all women facing breast cancer could have the care and support they deserved.

The funds raised from this concert go to the Komen Foundation to support awareness for breast cancer screening, treatment and educational programming to help women and men throughout Massachusetts.
