  • i was wondering if i could use a sugical grade lubricant? i work at a pharmacy and have real easy access to some.

  • Would you eat it?

  • How can you be sure that the entirety of the sanitation fluid is removed? Will it affect the taste of the beer if not fully removed? Thanks for the post; very informative.

  • Starsan is a "no-rinse" sanitizer. It will not affect the brew in the keg. I always throw out the 1st glass poured to get rid of any remaining sediment & that "flushes" the lines... Not that they need to be at this point...

  • People - you need to remember Chris is doing this for YOU BENEFIT. Do you NEED to be this thorough every time? No - but he went through every step for you so you could see it.

Personally, I am only this thorough if a keg as sat , if I have drastic change in beer styles, or every few kegs change-overs.

  • dude I love the small details you include that no one else does, thanks for helping me brew some great beer :)

  • great videos!! very informative!!

  • Very thorough, well explained, and organized! Thanks!

  • Could you tell what the grease is 'lubrafilm' and where you got it from?

  • what brand lube are you using?

  • A little bit of lube around the rim always helps...

  • You sure do love your lube huh? LMAO

    Overkill much?

  • That's the beauty of brewing, winemaking - we can all do what we want, what's best for our own set ups. If you think sulphur hydroxide is less toxic (even rinsed) than SaniClean, that's your method. All sanitizers are "toxic" by definition to some degree, some way more than others though.

Rinsing in near boiling water or using steam is a great non-toxic alternative for sure.

I've never had any infections either but I clean my kegs thoroughly after each use.
