Memory of Marty (Hahns Macaw)

July 13th 2009 was the saddest day in my life, My Marty Man passes away. Marty was only 4 years old and we were so very close.
it was early february 2006 when Marty and i first met at the petco store in tucson. it was an instant bond, i sat there on the floor for fifteen minutes with him, it was like he knew me forever, then my wife and i had to go, leaving marty behind as he squawked as i left. i came home from work on feb.14th, 2006 Valentines day and i walked through the door to the biggest and best present i have ever recieved in my entire life, it was marty, my wife saw how we bonded and when i was at work she went to the petco and bought him for my Valentines gift.
Marty, from that day on you have given me so much joy and love. you tought me so much Marty, I love you. every single time i kissed you, you turned and said "I Love you" every time. the house is empty without your greeting me when i walk through the door after work, i miss you demanding that i take you out the second i walk in. i miss all the I Love You's the pretty birds, i miss the kisses the peek-a-boos the come here's i just miss so much about you and i will never forget you. i will think and talk to you every single day of my life, for the first time i know what it is like to have a piece of my heart missing and i know it will never heal. Marty i love you miss you and always wishing you were here with Daddy. i know that was you visiting me the morning you passed and thank you Marty man. I will see you again some Day in Heaven. thank you for the greatest times of my life. I Love you my Marty Man.

It's just like losing a dog! there great companions and Parrots out live most dogs! I had a yellow nape amazon when I was 15 she died when I was 37!! I still miss her!! I'm 46 now and just got me a little green cheek conure she's a little lover! hope she lives long! I want to get a Hahns Macaw to soon!

@zoso426 I like your comment, they are great companions and very missed when there gone. Sorry to here about your Amazon. We have three GC Conures and your going to love the Hahns Macaw! They can get loud but they have so much personality and their so so Funny, very good talkers too.

I have a Sun Conure "Conito" and I perfectly know how you enjoyed Marty's companion, it's incredible how we get bonded to our feathered friends, Conito is not my pet, but my friend. I am sure Marty had a great life with you and I know he is resting comfortably and patiently waiting until you guys can 'play again' together :) Thanks for uploading this video, it made me cry a little bit, only a parrot's owner can understand it.

@Paniolodave Conito just passes away, I took him to the emergency vet, spent two days hospitalized with supportive care but it was inevitable; lung disease (air sacs infection out of nowhere) we are devastated at home, coming back home and accept there is no greeting at the door anymore, no morning wake up scream, his empty cage, toys is a horrible sensation. He had a short but great life full of love, I know he is also waiting until we 'can play again' together.

@EZEJFKEZE I'm really sorry about Conito, It is very sad and like you said when you come home it's quiet, you miss the greetings. Hang in there friend, it took me a while to get over Marty but he is still with me in spirit.
