  • Let's not forget he was a superhuman reader. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he hadn't prepared this to the extent other pianists would have and relied on his incredible brain on the day.

  • @gtimny It's not a "mess". There are some inaccuracies in it but his greatness shows through and he could play it very well were he not medicated!

  • @sll10 In general, I'll agree Ogdon was a very great pianist, but THIS recording?? You must be kidding, it's a mess! For one thing, I don't think anyone could play it this fast. He certainly didn't manage it here, anyway.

  • Astonishing! Ogdon was one of the greatest pianists in my opinion of the 20th century.
