http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith.

On a spring day in 1820 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with him. This was a critical chapter in Mormon history.

Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet.

Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. He translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God!

  • Wow. A boy has neurons misfiring in his brain, coupled with issues of rebellion and confusion... Let's make a religion out of it!!

Religions just keep getting crazier and crazier...

  • "Neurons misfiring"? "Issues of rebellion"?

It sounds like you know very little about Joseph Smith.

  • You want to hear something interesting? A while ago I went and visited some family in Alabama and there were some Baptists that were in front of an LDS church with posters that said "Don't pray and ask if the Book of Mormon is true, that's how they convert you!"

    True story.

  • That's hilarious.

  • I am a convert, I live in N.Ireland Belfast Stake and I testify that "There is no soul on this earth who cannot know that Jesus Christ's church has been restored upon this Earth in thease modern days " if only he/she would read James1 v 5 and pray asking the lord if his church has been restored upon this earth and that Joeseph Smith was and is a Prophet of God and I say this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

  • Thank you!

  • So am I! It's the only religion that answers all the important questions. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Anyone can have this same knowledge and be truly happy, if they want to.

  • I know that God lives and The Church is reall !!! The Book of Mormon is the Word of God,Joseph Smith is a Prophet, also The Prophet we have today -Thomas S Monson is The Holly Man of Heavenly Father and we can return safe back to Him by performing the work in His Holly Temples.I testify of the reallnes of this.Amen,

  • The descendants of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his wife Emma are slowly returning to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • @Pheauxr20 oh STOP it. You don't mean that!

  • I know this church is true, I cannot deny it. There is so much i've learned from being in it that i've had chance to see the works and blessings of God shown forth in the church. I have felt the holy spirit in my life from being a part of it , and that is why I will always be a part of it. :) I hope others can realize this for themselves and just have faith.

  • @zuki2536 completely true.. I love this church for that reason :)

  • @Davidfourfour me too :)

  • @Stepy2165

Why did they not want people to pray? If they were truly confident that the book of mormon is false then they should not be scared that people will recieve the answer through prayer that it is true! They ask people not to pray, as because that is what will happen!!

  • I know this is the true church I dont think nor hesitate I truely know it I know that the book of mormon is true as well I know that the prophets are really called on this earth of heavenly father as well thank you and this is my testimony .Amen.

  • Thank you for your testimony. I, too, know God lives and that Jesus is my Savior. He chose Joseph Smith to restore His Gospel.

  • I'm so glad my friend invited me to church and to meet with the missionaries. I will never forget when they told me this story. I know it is true. Christ lives. God lives. Joseph was His chosen prophet, just as Moses, Noah, Abraham, and others were chosen to do their work. The Book of Mormon is God's word. We have a prophet today, even Thomas S. Monson. Pray and know it more fully. Above all, I know that I am a child of God. There is no greater truth.
