(2:45) Vor Höll und Tod ist mir nicht bang. Drum preis ich Gott mein Lebe lang. HALLELUJA! HALLELUJA! In Ewigkeit, in Ewigkeit. (attempt of a literal translation) Of hell and death I'm not afraid. So I praise god for all of my life. HALLELUJA! HALLELUJA! Eternally, eternally. I'm not particularly religious, but this is EPIC!

Thanks for posting. My favourite of his. First Wagner I learned on flute. But not that. I love it more than that, it seems to rip my heart open and no surgeon can ever put it right again. I am part of this music, this is part of me and Wagner knew this all along, clever old s0d. It's about you and me, (pilgrim), our travel through life until the end. Soooooo beautiful......

This piece was played at my father´s funeral...so, the meaning of it is more impressive and deep than ever...let´s cry our eyes out a little bit more...

"The sinner's 'plaint on high was heard
On high was heard and answered by the Lord
The tears I laid before His shrine
Are turned to hope and joy divine.
O Lord eternal praise be Thine!
The blessed source of Thy mercy overflowing
On souls repetant seek Ye, all-knowing
Of hell and death, I have no fear
For thou my Lord are ever near"
Right, I've just heard that whole chorus, now please excuse me as I go and cry my eyes out...........

Sublime, with a strong character and extremely solemn. Undoubtful, he is the greatest dramatist the world has ever known. It will never ever be repeated and his music will prevail as long as mankind exist. Glory to his memory
