I am just knitting a mohair cardigan and getting into a lot of trouble with it. I went wrong and tried to pull it back - aaaargh, I thought of this vid and came back to watch it again, lol. Beaky
My first sweater was a sweater fit for an orangatan. I had not learned to read a pattern at that time, so I took a friends advice. She writes her own patterns. Start with one sleeve, go to the top, knit over to the next sleeve, then pick up the bodice and knit down to the waist. lots of fun, but the sleeves ended up being 8 feet long, with a 20 inch bodice;) trial 2 was much better.
Don't give up on your sweater! The whole reason I learned to knit was so I could make a sweater and 2 years later I have still not been brave enough to attempt one!
