The high National Security Court has detained an Israeli Mossad officer named Elan Chaim Grabel for spying on Egypt and threatening its national security.
The Egypt's security apparatuses have been monitoring the suspect since he entered the country in February.
Videos were taken of him around Tahrir Square during the post-25 January uprising protests and in front of the two churches while sectarian clashes were taking place.
Several pictures of Grapel were released by Egypt apparatuses showing him in Israeli army uniform and also in Tahrir square which was the symbolic heart of protests that brought down Mubarak.
Political activists deem the operation as a move that could strain Israel's relations with Egypt's new leaders.
This is what the people of Egypt had to tell Press TV when they heard the news of arresting an Israeli spy.
Meanwhile, a statement by Egypt's public prosecutor said the suspect had been sent to Egypt to recruit agents trying to gather information and to monitor the events of the January 25th revolution.
Officials say, Elan was present at most of the protests and that he encouraged demonstrators to engage in violence against the military and causing sectarian strife between Muslims & Christians.

Egypt, are you serious? Why would an Israeli be spying in Egypt? You idiots are about to turn your country over to Hamas and you ask such a question? If I were Israel, I would be preparing for the worst from you crazy ragheads!!

And what was an Israeli soldier doing undercover in Egypt?
Was he trying to incite riots between the Muslims and the Christians?
