A Reality Check on the US Economic Recovery
The strength of the US economic recovery has left many pleasantly surprised. Industrial production is up sharply, business confidence and investment growth are buoyant, and global trade is growing at rates not seen in the past decade. And yet, the markets remain volatile.
1) How will authorities manage the transition to a higher interest rate environment against a background of persistently high current account deficits?
2) Are the concerns of the markets overblown?
