HDMI also control power on & off function of a device... unplugging HDMI and using composite conn. should restore normal operation of your tv.

You either have a bad on/off relay switch (located on the main PCB board) , faulty detector switch, or maybe a bad power board.
Are all your fans working when you turn the tv on? I don't know your model, but you should have probably at least two fans... about 80mm.

This model didn't have that feature and i had it serviced and fixed. Besides, why would I want to downgrade to component and run a fiberoptic cable. I don't take steps backwards just cuz a part goes out. Had the capacitor replaced and a new motherboard installed and like new. EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! Always get one.
