Thank you so much for posting this. Sylvia Plath is the greatest Poet ever. Before I read it, I just was not very fond of poetry, after knowing her unique art, poetry has become an obsession to me.

@t3331157 All of this was compiled in the 90s..

I learned about Plath when a professor I had (one I did not like)- skipped her in the anthology b/c she said Plath had no talent. What troubles me so much is sometimes, I question if people treasure her poetry or just the suicide. Every video I view- people discuss her suicide NOT her poetry.I do think Hughes contributed to her death as she was very apparently in a bipolar DOWN..I don't think she would want to be remembered for her death.
Of course, NOT one of us knew her- just a thought.

This world is mad and depraved
Not much will be saved
So why'd you go and jump the gun?
If I was Ted we would've had fun
Did you hear a word that I just said?
Things would've been different if I was Ted.........

@t3331157 The recording of the voice is from 1963. They didn't have the now-crude then-awesome video effects in the 60's...

Had to write an essay on this and missed the day in was played in my English class, but now I can catch up on what I missed. Thanks for posting this!

'Documentary from the 90's'? No! Sylvia Plath died in 1963, and the voice over said she died 'last week', so it must have been made in 1963! :)

As you can tell by reading her work, she was extraordinarily self-absorbed. Sylvia seldom thought about anyone other than Sylvia.
I adore Al.Algarev's book "The Savage God", which contains an insightful chapter on the life of Sylvia as a poet and about her suicide. It's an amazing book and has opened my eyes to a new sort of world that has lived seperate to my world. Thank you for posting this important documentary :)
