I don't which is scarier -- A senator sleeping during a confirmation hearing for a candidate to the Supreme Court of the United States, or the fact that it took years of leading of law school for President Obama's candidate, Elena Kagan, to learn that no one has a monopoly on the truth!

@jlhlinnell Just be honest about what it is, don't try to stand up for the guy. He did not blink 3 times in 10 seconds. Any human knows just from their own experience he was dozing off. He was falling asleep. Note the way his eyes closed slowly and then popped open. I'm not saying it's that big of a deal but don't try to convince me that he just blinked when that clearly isn't the case.

So he looks fairly bored by Kagan, and blinks three times in a ten-second stretch.
Okay. Yes, not the display of a stellar student, but certainly not the "OH MY GOD HE'S NAPPING ON THE JOB!!!!!one! that I was led to expect when pointed here.

It's called trying to stay awake.
But he's too bored outta his brains.

Notice how all the Republicans commenting don't respond when its pointed out Franken isn't even nodding off in the video? It tells you a lot about the personal character of regular, everyday Republicans. Systematically lying might work for public relations, but it makes for terrible governance. Look at the Republican Congress from '95 to '07.

I don't blame him. These hearings are a waste of time. She knows exactly how she's going to vote on cases they ask her about, but she lies and says she can't prejudge them. She will ignore the Constitution and just create new federal laws that conform to her liberal political views.
