Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been declared the winner in Sri Lanka's first peacetime presidential election in decades, but his main rival is disputing the results. Former top general, Sarath Fonseka is refusing to concede defeat, saying that although voting was peaceful the results have been rigged to give Mr. Rajapaksa another six-year term in office. VOA Steve Herman reports from Colombo.

It is obvious the elections were rigged. The president's brother Basil had the election commissioner under house arrest and manipulated the inputting of data into the computers. He also printed 2 million fake ID cards of sri lankans living abroad or who have died, and gave these to his supporters to use for a second vote. The opposition General was supposed to have a landslide win, but the dictator president would never allow democracy or freedom. Our country is in big trouble.
