  • hahahahahaha i saw him not too long ago and my friend and i were trying to figure out if he was being either really groovy in his playing or just dropping beats all over the place.....i think its a little of both

  • you must be kidding.. RH does not 'drop' beats

  • To the "fans" whose comments have now been removed:

If you have no ears, no abilty to discern complex musicanship and no knowledge of the principles of bebop, swing or time, kindly refrain from comparing fellow musicians to one another in the disrespectful fashion that you have; especially the brilliant virtuosos you have made mention of. Your sophomoric commentary belies any legitimate interest you may have in the music and your uninformed remarks are unwelcome here.

  • @drummerman558 : It seems IMHO to be about artistic choice rather than mere ability, as he has turned his sticks upside down, *and* (at least here) is using a metal snare drum. :)

  • Roy Haynes is one of the greatest drummers in history, but he has definitely lost his touch with his age. I feel like everything I hear from him lately is too loud and uncontrolled. He used to have such an amazing gentle touch and still be able to play unbelievably fast. But i suppose it is just to be expected with age. I certainly wont be able to do anything like that when i'm 80.

  • @SAHBfan He's around 80.

  • born to swing

  • Roy's playing here is percussively obnoxious. Intrusive, loud and patently unmusical.

    Undignified for a Jazz master.

  • hay que tener mucho huevo o ser un pobre tipo para ponerle pulgar abajo a roy eh?

    go roy go!!!

  • gotta love this kind of raw playing.. Roy doesnt give a flying F about finesse.. just lays it down.. its weird. refined yet bordering on sloppy.. hard to explain. the passion and knowledge of the music is evident throughout

  • How old is Roy Haynes here?

From his appearance and the energy with which he plays, I'd say... late 40s?

  • @botabatiki

"alot" is not a word, and never has been. It's two words. A lot.
