The acting in the miniseries was so poor it made me want to cry. When Paul was having his hand burnt in the box it looked like he was just a little bit uncomfortable with constipation. Compare that to the same scene in the David Lynch film and you'll see the disparity.
the miniseries had a stage quality about it. Made everything more immediate, where-as the original felt like over-produced crap.
Herbert's sense of immediacy was apparent in the mini-series and not the '84 "classic"
