@fgruber7 when it comes to music like this, i say they are the "most original" and surpurbly awesome becuase they can build on some themes for completely different ideas and movie scenes.

he also stole from Wagner and Gustav Holst

Am i the only one who screamed " CARTHAGE! " when they won?

Gladiator came before Pirates, look it up. So he took notes from Gladiator to compose Pirates!

Hans Zimmer is a freaking LEGEND!

@kernunoos I wouldn't really consider myself a Hans Zimmer fan really. I liked the music from these movies when I was younger. I don't really listen to it anymore, but I still think it's pretty good. I'm not surprised to hear that Zimmer got ideas from older songs. People say that John Williams did the same for Star Wars. I say whatever, they always say the most "original" artists are just that bc they hide their sources best

The theme at 5:45, used later on in pirates of the carribean, is largely inspiored of not a variation on the music from THE ROCK (1996) by GRegsonWilliams, Zimmer and if you listen closely to the OST. In "Jailhouse Rock" track, at 1:40 you hear what will become in "barbarian horde" at 5:54 . There are at least 4 or 5 extremely similar themes, and they're present in all of Zimmer's OSTs in very similar flavors.
@Kidbox45
The same guy composed both Pirates & Gladiator, Hans Zimmer
Klaus Badelt is credited for Curse of the Black Pearl, but Hans Zimmer wrote all the major themes for Pirates of the Carribean...
So sure, Hans Zimmer stole music from himself ;)
