Using nightvision we found 4 skunks living under our concrete front doorstep. Watch them charge the camera and scratch at my SKUNK sign. Any ideas how to get rid of them?
@threeby8887 Exactly, either Animal Control will trap them, or tell you where you can buy humane traps. Spraying is a last resort for skunks, so as long as it's not cornered or frightened, you should be fine. If you're really worried, make noise as you approach so it knows you're there and can get away.
And the "charging the camera" is just a thing they do when playing. They charge forward and scoot back.
@VulpesAnonymous Fine, you let them stay under your house until they grow up.
Me, the first time I see one I'm getting rid of it. Either Animal Control can pick it up or I can trap it and take it for a nice long ride before letting it go. Shooting it would be a last resort (unless it sprays me or one of my loved ones--then it dies immediately).
@ninja6kid Now there's a groud hog when I came home from school it ran from undery families van to the porch I was within 5 feet of it and the strange thing is I
live in town I'm no where near the outer township. So now the skunk is the least of my problems in a few months it's mating season again and theales spray to attract a mate ohh noes! :(
true dat my family used moth balls this summer and it smelled for 2 months if is had to choose i would choose the skunk in a heart beat...oh wait thats the kind of situation im in right now our house got skunked the 3rd time this week cause its matting season boy every gril skunk must really hate that skunk so now we have to live in a inn for the next 4 days or atleast until the smell is gone and if the cages work ..but today we catched a possum instead of a skunk....:((
Put some christmas lights in the hole and light up the area they live. DONT USE MOTHBALLS!!! Moth balls are poison and it against federal law to use mothe balls on anything other than moths/moth eggs. Light up the area where they sleeo and they WILL leave on their own. Good luck.
@VulpesAnonymous I was a bit too sharp toward you in the first sentence of my last post. I apologize.
And thank you for providing additional insight on these animals.
