Supercooling experiment

After some trial and error, I finally managed to produced some supercooled water. This is the third time I have done this, but the first on film.

Supercooling is where purified or distilled water is chilled to 32 degrees (F) or below, but remains in a liquid state. But, if you agitate the liquid i.e. shaking it, the water will become ice instantly.

The technique I used was to place a bottle of Fiji water in a insulated thermos and let it chill for 5-6 hours in the freezer. The thermos slows the heat exchange, allowing the water to be evenly chilled.

No, it doesn't. Any purified water without anything added, i.e. minerals or vitamins, will work. The Fiji happened to be on sale before this was made.

really any water will work but the more pure the better chance it will work, it's really hit and miss.
