Arranged and orchestrated by Matt Aument, this song was originally sung by Dorothy Loudon in the musical Ballroom, but Matt wanted to hear it done by a man which has given the song a new outlook and different meaning. This song, along with a few others was recorded in the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University in April of 2010 for Matt's Senior Thesis.
This truly great!! Love it, thanks for sharing.

I am so glad that Nick made a studio recording of this, having seen the live clip numerous times. What a talent! But beyond that, as a 51 yr. old gay man who came out in his 40s, it moves me so much to hear a man singing this without any lyric changes! Truly moving! And what an incredible talent! I expect to see him on the boards in NYC one of these days. (and the arrangement and orchestra is also fantastic). Too bad Dorothy Loudon couldn't be around to hear this!

Nick has an extraordinary voice! Seeing Louden on Broadway in "Ballroom" is one of my fondest theatre memories, but the meaning at the heart of song lives again in the Cosgrove interpretation, as it is at last about a true understanding of being on the outside of the life of the one you love - and not caring...

What an incredibly sensitive, talented and beautiful man. I can't
stop listening. There is something in Nick's voice here
that always moves me to tears from the very first phrase.
It's uncanny and wonderful.

A moving performance by a young man who obviously had the maturity and intelligence not only to choose this infrequently heard leading-lady’s song but to pull it off like a seasoned performer. Very distinctive timbre which sets him apart vocally from many others of his generation. A great honor to the memory of Miss Loudon. I don't know Nick but Bravo to him and to Mr. Aument.

I thought only Dorothy Louden could sing this song.I was wrong, this is so beautiful, and he does it without trying to put any false emotion into it (Steven Fales ruins it)Thank goodnes for youtube, without it i would proberbly never have heard this.Well done Nick, and fantastick orchestrations.More please.
