Sherman Oaks Galleria Time-lapse of Renovation Construction

The Sherman Oaks Galleria is the landmark dining, shopping, entertainment and office center at the junction of the 101 and 405 freeways on the corner of Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards in Sherman Oaks, California, at the center of LA's San Fernando Valley.


In 1997, Douglas Emmett purchased the original Sherman Oaks Galleria and, in 1998, began plans with the architecture, design and planning firm of Santa Monica-bbased Gensler for the Galleria's repositioning and revitalization.

During the renovation period between 1999 and 2001, the old mall was transformed from a white, windowless box into a state-of-the-art open-air lifestyle center that includes 700,000 square feet of office space in four buildings overlooking a 300,000-square-foot retail,dining and entertainment complex.


This success of the renovation was recognized when the Galleria won the Greater Los Angeles TOBY* in 2007 followed by being honored as Pacific Southwest Region Winner in 2008. The TOBY Award is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in commercial real estate.


The Office Building of the Year is award by BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association)
