  • A touching, humorous, at times, both a sad & haunting, portrait of a unique individual whose fractured being somehow blessed us with his, often, tortured mind. This is the one of the only documentaries about Wesley I've seen to date that truly feels like it was created by someone, and content is filled

w/ people who genuinely cared about the man. Unlike many others where the content is more "spectacle" , than respectfull, Thanks for sharing it.

  • yet another wesley willis find !!! excellent !

  • More thoughts on Willis...

His incredible memory makes me feel more confident that Schizophrenia is the inability to stop thinking, if only to avoid particular thoughts, like being forced to watch his mother beaten and raped like a slave in her own home. Eventually it could become a self-defense mechanism beholden only to your subconscious, seeming to turn on you. The process of rationalizing not to treat others that way would certainly feel, and appear, as insanity. And may never end.

  • @1oolabob

I think how Wesley was treated by strangers in his life is proof I'm wrong when I say they mostly suck.

It's bizarre that I should be glad for the joy he brings - but would rather be without it 'cause of how he was made. So if I let something get me down when it can't even get him down, and he brings me up... says to me that Willis was literally indiscriminate.

  • Wesley Willis responded to some huge hardships in life by making and selling his artwork--his drawings and his music. He talked to people wherever he went. I think it's amazing that even though he was a huge, schizophrenic guy on the streets of a big city, he was so friendly that people weren't afraid to talk to him. Somehow through all the challenges, he managed to connect and be loved by the people in his community as an artist, mostly by his commitment to his art and by his personality.

  • Jesus, no wonder he developed Schizophrenia.

  • this is SO much better than that other awful documentary on Willis (i can't even remember the name, but trust me it was shit. It didn't even stay on the topic of willis half the time)

  • this about made me cry

  • cool

  • haha, winterbottom.
