Bottoming out a Yamaha DT175 (can you hear it?) on a small(ish) motocross jump with a 65kg rider on board. Coming off the 1st table-top the speedo was reading around 60km/h (glancing at it previous lap). Its a great trail/play or even short-distance Adventure mount. Seat height approximately same as a ttr125 or drz125 etc. but with heaps more power and road legality. Front disc brake, very reliable and simple to rebuild engine compared to a 4 stroke. Taking off pillion pegs, helmet lock and a few other bits and pieces and replacing the huge standard indicators with lighter (out of harms way) ones saves around 2.5 kg. I've taken this to places where my road legal DRZ-400 E would have been a total nuisance. I lost the front around that corner on previous lap thats why was so tentative and slow here.

  • As has previously been pointed out, this is an enduro bike not an out and out motorcrosser. I own and use one of these as a daily ride, they do have a power band which comes it at 5k she'll keep pulling through to over 7.5. This is able to keep up with but not beat XR250's

  • @ronangti I now have a road legal 200EXC (besides SV650S, K100LT, FZR400, OSET 16, C90, KSR80, ATC70, CRF50, VT250F, Sepia etc) - now that katoom has powerband! The DT, by comparison, does not have one, and that was my point.

  • nice bike does it have power band?

  • This design makes if reliable, economical and easy to ride but with enough pep to have fun suspension is the most limiting factor. So compared to a KDX200 it does not feel like it has a powerband though technically it does. Cheers.

  • i think if you wanna get more power you should try the thicker power bands the one you got in there is probably strethched and flogged out. do that and this bad boy would haul ass! hahahah

  • @goonbagguru No it doesn't. A bike with a completely linear power delivery has no 'power band'.

  • @SpecialAndNotDumb like i said "compared to a KDX200 it does not feel like it has a powerband though technically it does" - NO is too easy!

  • @aleshamahon Great story numbnuts , Next time just say No

  • you are haulin ass on that DT

  • ha ouch

  • @jmjs96 every single bike made has a powerband mate...

  • I have a 1978 model of this bike. It has a small powerband starting at 5.5k.
